my story

My road to becoming a midwife truly began with the birth of my daughter in 2001. I experienced an extremely difficult birth in the hospital that left me feeling disrespected, mistreated, and traumatized. It was that experience that showed me the power that birth had to shape how I viewed myself, and that giving birth and bonding with your baby (or not being allowed to, as was my case) is one of the most transformative experiences in life. I knew there had to be a different way. Birthing people deserve more.

Being a midwife is more than a profession for me, it's a calling. I am a midwife today because an innumerable people believed in and supported me. Through emotional support, mentoring, free childcare, monetary donations and countless words of encouragement, I was able to complete my education. It took a village to make this midwife, and I couldn't have done it without them. It is because of this support that I am dedicated to giving back to the community. I made a pledge to provide care to those with financial struggles through care scholarships to pay forward all money that was donated to me to finish midwifery school. Although all of the money has been "repaid", I continue to provide care scholarships and sliding fee scales when families are in need.

I am now living my passion working with pregnant people and their families during one of the most amazing and intimate times in their lives.  I am truly honored to be a part of each and every birth I am asked to attend.

My most important role is that of mother to my amazing daughter, whose gift to me was leading me to a career that I love almost as much as I love her.

My favorite thing about Tiffany, besides her comfort, knowledge, and experience was her availability.  If I had any question, big or small, she would always get back to me quickly.  This is never something I would get being seen by a doctor.  It makes the experience so much more personal and intimate and a lot less scary!
